Barry is a founding shareholder of the
company and our Managing Director. It is through his vision that
Southern Cross Finance was formed in 1995.
Barry has an architectural background and in earlier days he put
these skills to good use in undertaking a series of development
projects involving the identification of suitable buildings to
initially extend/remodel and then ultimately house new start up
businesses. The resulting enterprises were totally designed and
operated by Barry and his wife Julia and went on to become highly
successful ventures.
Their experience over a number of projects naturally gave them
first hand insight into the difficulties and complexities of
raising finance when mainstream finance is not always an option -
particularly in the formative phase of a new project or the first
months of a start up business.

Julia was also a founding shareholder of
this company. She has an agricultural science background. Julia
refined her natural business skills and was an integral part of the
successes that Barry and Julia had with their building projects and
subsequent hospitality businesses.
Julia heads up the section of our business that manages the
inevitable group of reluctant payers that any finance business has.
She brings an array of extremely humanist skills to a critical area
of success for us.
